We inspire.
BASE Art Space is an art studio in Newcastle, NSW that nurtures creativity and develops confident and expressive individuals.
We predominantly provide after school art lessons to children that are carefully planned to engage children in the exciting world of art. We believe looking deeper into art, galleries, art movements, artists of the eras, skills and techniques. Art promotes creativity & imagination, sometimes which lacks now due to our plugged in lives.
We occasionally offer, with more coming in the future, adult workshops and drawing classes that are designed to reintroduce the wonderful world of making and creating again after becoming adult and joining the race.
BASE is a safe place and everyone is welcome to attend and participate.
Service NSW Creative Kid Provider / all teachers WWCC / wheelchair accessible.

Meet the team
Yvette Ten-Bohmer
Resident Art Teacher
Yvette is a proud figurative artist. She grew up in the suburbs of Newcastle, studied at Newcastle Art school and went on to complete her studies at National Art School in Sydney. The same year Yvette graduated with her degree in fine arts; she won the John Olsen Prize for Life Drawing.
Lauren Wiltshire
Base Founder and Teacher
Lauren is an artist and art teacher who found her adoration for teaching through her experience of being a mum. Base Art Space was created after realising there wasn’t enough emphasis on play or creative practices in the schools curriculum.
